PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

Day Camp 5 days $250 (9am-3:30pm)                                           K5-3rd grade completed
Day Camp is a great way for children to be introduced to the wilderness and farm experience at Camp Buc. Includes all the activities of our younger elementary-aged camps. (Camp Buc Bus pick-up each morning at Cashiers Park. Cabin rentals available.)

Parent/Child Camp 3 nights $150 per person                               K4-2nd grade completed
Parent/Child Camp is an introduction for parents (or grandparents) and children enjoy camp life with their younger child. Counselors lead parents and children in swimming, hiking, canoeing, fishing, crafts, farm and garden, cooking, singing, worship and games.

Braves 3 nights $300                                                                    1st – 3rd grade completed
Braves is a great first taste of camp life! Children get acquainted with the basics of camp –being away from home, sleeping in the woods in cabins, and having fun with a new group of friends. Swimming, hiking, canoeing, fishing, gem mining, crafts, farm and garden, cooking, singing, worship and games are all included in these three nights.

Pathfinders 5 nights – $450 / 12 nights – $900                         2nd to 5th grade completed
The Pathfinders will explore the world and their place in it. Campers learn to grow food, set up camp and cook dinner over the fire, along with an introduction to the ropes courses, archery, canoeing and bouldering. This camp helps children explore strengths, weaknesses and the security of a supportive group of friends.
*12-night options: June 16-28, July 7-19, July 21-Aug. 2 for $900

Explorers 5 nights – $540 / 12 nights – $1080                          5th to 8th grade completed
The Explorers meet middle school children as they begin to test themselves individually and in community. Multiple days camping take their skills to a higher level as they learn to live in the outdoors with a group of friends. High ropes, whitewater paddling on the Nantahala River, and horseback riding make this camp memorable. Christian stewardship of the land, “no trace” camping and learning to work as a team in a new setting are all themes that help campers practice sensitivity, responsibility, empathy and positive self-esteem.
*12-night option: June 16-28, July 7-19, July 21-Aug. 2 for $1080

Adventure Leadership 5 nights – $580 / 12 nights $1160      8th to 11th grade completed
High School youth dig a little deeper to discover who they are in the world. This camp picks up where the Explorer camp ended by taking the challenges and responsibility up a level. Safety protocols and teamwork are emphasized with each new adventure in a progression from High Ropes, some short hikes, to rock climbing, rappelling, whitewater paddling, and a multi-day backpack trip. The challenge level is high, but all who are willing to put forth the effort are invited to join in the adventure!
*12-night options: June 16-28, July 7-19, July 21-Aug. 2 for $1160

Service Leadership 5 nights – $300 / 12 nights $600             8th to 11th grade completed
From small building projects to trail clearing, this group learns to live out their faith through action. They join in the daily rhythm of the base camp with worship, games, swimming time and the campfire, but the activity time each day focuses on service. The group takes time to analyze a task, make a work plan, and follow through with different campers taking leadership roles. Like the adventure camp, safety and skills are developed in a group process that provides a sense of accomplishment to the young adult
*12-night options: June 16-28, July 7-19, July 21-Aug. 2 for $600

Counselor In Training (CIT) 5 nights $300 or 12 nights $600         9th to 11th completed
The CIT experience gives high school student an opportunity to begin the training process for becoming a camp counselor at Buc. A CIT works closely with one or two groups of children under the supervision of a counselor and coordinator to reflect on the work at hand and see how it fits in their faith development. CIT training requires being flexible, open-minded, compassionate, sensitive to young children’s needs and hard working.
